Washington Black - Between Empire and Home
Envision Wash's balloon settling over a winter season harbour. Halifax is not an accident; it rests on routes that when moved salt fish and lumber south, then moved freedom hunters north. In the hum of that city, Africville rose-- a home developed against the chances, later on torn down, never forgotten. From the Barbadian wave came artists and leaders who changed the nationwide tone: Joe Sealy and Oliver Jones in jazz, Cameron Bailey in film, Anne Cools in lawmaking. Between flight and foundation, the Atlantic carried more than trade; it brought tomorrow.
See the teaser and learn about Africville and the Underground Railroad.
